After making plans to hit the track almost a month ago now for their first race of the season, Ryan Arbuthnot and his race team continue to battle the elements after a rain and cold temperatures have kept them at bay over the early part of the season. Their original plan to attempt Black Rock Speedway in late March was rained out, and then a planned practice session at Can Am also fell by the wayside. With a nice forecast planned for this coming weekend, Arbuthnot will finally get on the track to make his debut in the 358 Modified division at Merrittville Speedway. The Arbuthnot Racing team will make the nearly six hour trip to Merrittville on Saturday night for their first race of the 2013 season. Arbuthnot has raced at Merrittville before, competing in a Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series event last September. They are hoping for a good run on their first night out. On the way back home on Sunday, the team plans to stop in at Brighton Speedway for a few practice laps at that track as well, getting valuable experience in the 358 Modified. Ryan will race weekly at Brockville Speedway and Cornwall Speedway this season. Brockville will open for practice next Saturday, May 4th and will open the season on Saturday, May 11th. Cornwall Speedway opens on Sunday, May 19th.
